Increasing demand for IHE training courses
There is a noticable increase in the number of IHE training courses we're delivering - most of those are in-company training courses. The topic is mostly the XDS profile, the PCC content profiles (based on HL7's CDA standard) and related/supporting profiles.
Over the past 12 years IHE has defined a significant number of standardized workflow descriptions, as well as implementation guides based on existing standards (e.g. HL7 and DICOM) to support thos workflows. The Radiology Technical Framework, which defines a number of workflows related to Radiology has been widely accepted and implemented. Given the high level of acceptance of these IHE profilesand the fact that they're based on HL7 version 2 and DICOM we've decided to add them to the agenda of our HL7 version 2 and DICOM training courses.
The focus of our IHE training course is mostly on those profiles that are related to the cross-organizational exchange of data: the XDS profile (to exchange clincial documents), the PCC content profiles (e-documents; based on HL7's CDA standard) and other supporting/related profiles such as XUA (user authentication).
IHE itself offers plenty of educational materials and webinairs - if one has the ability to invest time one can look at those (recorded) webinairs and at the IHE profiles. We'll continue (in 2011) to offer the IHE training course as an on-site training course for those that require a structured overview of a certain set of IHE profiles within a short timeframe.
