Get ready for EHDS implementation - EHDS-on-FHIR training coursePublication date: Apr 10, 2026
Some say it's too early to worry about the EHDS, others are already worried they'll run out of time to prepare for the implementation of EHDS.
EHDS-on-FHIRThe EHDS-on-FHIR training course was born out of frustration: there are lots of high-level management-style presentations related to the EHDS, but nothing that seemed to address its implementation aspects from a technical perspective. I'm a trainer by profession, so I effectively I created the training course I'd have liked to take part in to get me up to speed on the implications of the EHDS regulation. 'Exactly what I was looking for', 'A practical guide to EHDS for technical people', 'Excellent overview - this connected all the dots', and 'The best source of summarised information on EHDS implementation'. These are some of the recommendations made by attendees of the initial 4 EHDS-on-FHIR training courses (try-outs and in-company courses). On average these participants assigned a 9.1 note (out of max 10) to the training course. This doesn't mean I can just sit back and relax - the participants won't have a lot of experience with the subject at this point in time. As time progresses attendees will already have some prior experience with the implementation of EHDS requirements and that's when they'll start asking the hard questions. The creation and maintenance of a training course is an agile process - each and every training course leads to changes in the materials. That, and the fact that neither the EHDS implementing acts nor the FHIR/IHE implementing guides have been finished yet will lead to plenty of updates. Anyway, what we have today is good to go and represents the latest known state of things - to provide you with a headstart when it comes to the implementation of EHDS. Given that the training course is aimed at an EU-wide audience we'll start offering an on-line version of the course, initially to be held on June 9-10 (10:00-14:30 CET each day).
I'd like to thank the participants of the try-outs for their constructive feedback. -Rene PermaLink to this page: https://www.ringholm.com/column/ehds-on-fhir-training-course-primary-use-Q2-2026.htm
